An Evening with the Gorbachevs

Her description of what delights her practically sang off the screen like melodic prose, “I love blues and all the shades the sky and ocean can be. I love all the greens of spring and the reds and yellows that bloom in spring and summer gardens”. You’d never know from such a gentle whisper that its carrier is a straight-forward woman with a stern voice. But she’s taken to heart her collection of fine art for her family’s homes. This one in particular they chose in the cloudy skies of Seattle, watching the seaplanes land in Lake Union. Achromatic undertones in ombre blends prepared the misted backdrop for bright continental European art and accoutrements. A respite of sublime joy greets each arrival to town for an evening with the Gorbachevs – the vibrant, eccentric key artist series featured here.

Home Work

A Yale graduate and medical director, her time at home is regularly spent at work. A timely reimagining of a space adjacent to the primary suite brings everything she requires at her fingertips efficiently to foster life and health for her patients. Her escape to Vermont often garners treasures she brings back home to glean happy moments in memory for the long hours ahead tucked away here. A subtle blush hue in the reclaimed wood desktop secured the pale pink palette, chosen for its blissful qualities, lightening the heart in the darkest hours of difficult care. Hearty linen adornment on her window, toes sinking in sumptuous wool berber, Coco’s iconic brass and velvet chair for the occasional visitor, Eames for herself, she blesses her family in frames and dives in for the day.

Sparkling Spa

A practical glamour, the pretentions of formality dissuaded, a responsible use of utilitarian materials for well-being and ease of cleaning were procured without compromising the luxurious sensation for this pair of high-profile world travelers. Exploring the best possible presentation of the space to highlight a well-appointed re-imagined bathing experience overlooking American Pacific Northwest forest and mountain views, we adorned the room with fine quality furnishings and fixtures, maximizing daily preparation circulation at the lavatory vanities flanking a central freestanding tub, thus offering more manageable wet area propriety. It was important to them that we create an experience that matched those they enjoyed when traveling abroad. Their response proves the result: “It’s so stunning we just like spending time in it. Until the rest of the house gets done we have our wine parties here, it’s that fabulous. Makes for great conversation!”
