For this Winter’s Seasonal Projections, we chose to study the Library.
All that adorns the library’s hallowed hall is merely a canvas for the stories that echo across the shelves. A good book is like the depth of comfort you feel around an old friend. Each chapter offers quiet company and an invitation to explore new territory of thought. Pull up a chair and stay awhile, as your soul reaches a settled state of contentment only a well-stocked library can bestow.
There’s something about the textural experience of being in a home library… your shoulders wrapped by a soft blanket, the walls adorned with beautiful paneling, books bindings that smell of old pages and old times. The shelves offer rows and rows of simple delights. The familiar reading chairs and glowing lamps craft a warm and inviting atmosphere that you won’t want to leave. A library captures the essence of what we love about winter: the glow of layered lighting, soft Seattle rain on the windows, a crackling fire, and a quiet reprieve to relish the end of one year and the beginning of another chapter. These are winter interior design trends of this year.
Such dimensionality and interest is sparked by the mix of light and dark tones in a room. The soft, clean feel of the crisp white plays off of the dramatic depth of the charcoal in a timeless backdrop for curated collections boasting elements of wood and leather and lively texture. A dynamic blend we relish to embellish!
To unwind becomes a way of life. To come home and stare into the fire or page through a new book, to nestle into a daybed and let the cares fade away… the library beckons of rest and solitude. It is here that we end our day in a place steeped in tradition and familiarity.
